Holmes Chapel Boxing Club (HCBC) is a community club in the heart of Cheshire, run solely by a team of volunteer coaches and trustees. The club provides boxing training for all ages, including an Introduction to boxing from as young as 9 years old, adult open training as well as a girls only class.
We do it for the love of sport and our communityLead Coach, Kerry Chalk
More than just keeping fit, the team advocate that involvement in boxing helps to support happiness, mental wellbeing and confidence in young people, as well as promoting the values of hard work and respect for others. Throughout lockdown the coaches have even continued to provide Zoom sessions during the week and kept in touch with the young people and their parents.
In 2019, Holmes Chapel Boxing Club received grant funding from The Davies Foundation to assist in the setting up of their Girls Boxing for 11-18 year olds. The grant supported the club in funding the sessions and sourcing specific training equipment for the girls’ class.
I am not only working on Boxing skills but also mental health and confidence. Many of our girls have now had the confidence to attend our mixed classes and some had even started sparring pre-lockdown, I have been really proud of their progressLead Coach, Kerry Chalk
